Disney+ Original Korean drama due in 2026; stars include Shin Mina, Lee Seyoung, and Lee Jong-seok
Disney+ is slated to release the drama Remarried Empress next year, which drew criticism for using props that resembled a German Nazi medal. The production company, Studio N, apologized, saying there was a lack of thorough prop inspection. They added they would replace the involved prop images and take follow-up actions to prevent recurrence.
In a formal statement on the 15th, Studio N said they “sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by the oversight in inspecting certain costume props” and pledged to proceed with careful and thorough follow-up measures to prevent recurrence.
At the Disney+ Original Preview 2025 event in Hong Kong on the 13th, promotional images for Remarried Empress were unveiled, showing Joo Ji-hoon in a military uniform. Online discussions noted that one of the medals on his chest resembled Nazi Germany’s Third Class Long Service Medal.
Netizens reacted with remarks about a global OTT production making such a mistake, saying it was fortunate to learn of it before the show’s release. The production company acknowledged the controversy and promised follow-up actions.
Remarried Empress wrapped filming on the 13th; specific follow-up actions have not been confirmed, though editors may favor adjustments over reshoots. Remarried Empress is a Disney+ Original Korean drama based on the web novel of the same name, scheduled for a 2026 release, with Joo Ji-hoon, Shin Mina, Lee Seyoung, and Lee Jong-seok in the cast.
