From ddeok-sujeo controversy to Air100 debut: Will Hamini prove himself as a talented idol?

Modenberry Korea unveiled the tentative name and logo for its new boy group set to debut in the latter half of next year. The agency said the group’s team name has been finalized as the provisional Air100, a name that combines Air and 100 to symbolize “100 percent energy filling the world.” Air100 is planned to be a seven-member group, with full-scale preparations underway for a debut next year and sequential releases of member-focused content and promotions. Trainee Hamini has joined Air100, drawing increasing fan interest. Hamini is tall at 185 cm with distinctive features, noted in connection with his past association with the founder’s family of a famous ddeok business, earning nicknames like “ddeok-sujeo,” “chaebol-dol,” and “snack-dol.” The agency clarified that Hamini is the founder’s grandson and the nephew of CEO Ha Seong-ho, apologizing for confusion caused by errors in early promotional materials. In a YouTube interview, Hamini emphasized that he wants to be recognized for his skills rather than his family background, noting that he has auditioned over 200 times. He added that his parents were initially worried, but he convinced them that he truly wanted this, expressing a desire to be judged by his singing and performances rather than brand or background. After moving past the ddeok-sujeo controversy, Hamini has joined Air100 and now looks to start anew as a member. As the name Air100 suggests, the group aims to demonstrate genuine on-stage talent with 100 percent passion.
