JO1 Fan Meeting Cancellation Highlights Cross-Border Pressures on Asian Pop Acts

In March, JO1 performed a large-scale concert in Beijing. The group is an 11-member boy band that debuted in 2020 through Produce 101 Japan, and is under Lapone Entertainment, a CJ ENM and Yoshimoto Holdings joint venture.

QQ Music, the Chinese music platform, announced on the 17th that JO1’s fan meeting in Guangzhou was canceled due to force majeure. The event had been scheduled for the 28th, but both the main event and related activities were suspended. These developments illustrate how cross-border tensions are affecting entertainment schedules and cross-border pop acts.
