Rosé’s ‘Apartment’ and K-pop Demon Hunters’ ‘Golden’ Nominated for Grammys, Writing a New Chapter in K-Pop History [Oh! Sen Issue]

Rosé of Blackpink and the soundtrack for the Netflix film K-pop Demon Hunters, “Golden,” have been nominated for the Grammys, signaling a new chapter for K-pop on the global stage. The Recording Academy announced the 68th Grammy nominations, with Rosé and Bruno Mars’ rendition of “Apartment (APT.)” shortlisted in three categories, including the General Field for Best Song and Best Record.

The Netflix film’s OST “Golden” is nominated in five categories, including Best Song. HYBE-produced U.S.-based girl group Catpai is up for two categories, including Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

This marks the first time a K-pop song has been nominated in the General Fields since BTS earned three nominations at the 65th Grammys three years ago. Moreover, this is the first time a K-pop female artist has been nominated.

All nominated songs are by female K-pop artists, adding to the event’s significance. Both “Apartment” and “Golden” are globally popular tracks, fueling optimism about possible wins.

The 68th Grammys will be held on February 1 next year at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, featuring 95 categories with roughly 23,000 entries. Final winners will be determined by the votes of about 15,000 Recording Academy members from December 12 to January 5.
