Rosé’s Apart and the Golden OST vie for Grammys’ first-ever K-pop win

On November 8 at 1:00 a.m. Korea time, the Recording Academy will unveil the final nominees for the 68th Grammy Awards. The Grammys this year assess albums, singles, and songs released between August 2024 and August 2025. After a 12-day first-round vote conducted in October, the final nominees will be unveiled on that day.

Rosé’s Apart and the Golden OST from Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters are among the entries drawing the most attention. Apart, released in October last year, sparked a global response and helped drive Rosé into the spotlight. Rosé’s collaboration with Bruno Mars on Apart contributed to its international appeal, and it spent 41 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100, underscoring its global reach.

In September’s VMAs, Rosé won Song of the Year, marking a historic milestone for a K-pop artist. Based on these successes, Rosé is now aiming for a first K-pop win at the Grammys. Apart is included on the album Rosie, which is also in the running for Album of the Year.

Rosé is also in the running in multiple categories: Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Best Music Video for Apart; Best Pop Solo Performance for Toxic Till the End; and Best Pop Vocal Album for Rosie. The Golden OST is the Netflix original soundtrack for K-Pop Demon Hunters and is drawing attention as well, with its own set of nominations. Golden is in contention for Song of the Year and Record of the Year, and the soundtrack itself is also submitted for Album of the Year.

Historically, BTS had reached final nominations in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for three consecutive years but did not win the trophy. Now K-pop is pressing again for Grammys with Rosé’s Apart and the Golden OST, inviting the question of whether they will secure a historic first win. The Grammys will reveal the final nominations on November 8, and the results will determine if K-pop makes history this year.
