Anwar Ibrahim’s SNS post featuring G-Dragon’s performance at the APEC welcome banquet drew rapid engagement from netizens.
Malaysia’s prime minister Anwar Ibrahim, 78, drew attention by sharing a video of G-Dragon, the K-pop icon and Big Bang member-turned-solo artist, performing at the welcome banquet for the 2025 APEC summit. On his local time of October 31, Ibrahim posted the clip on his social media, noting that many Malaysia-based K-pop fans had asked for the performance to be shared. He added that he would relay the moments when G-Dragon shined to avoid disappointing fans. The post quickly attracted substantial engagement, earning over 100,000 likes and about 9,000 shares within roughly seven hours. Local netizens replied with comments suggesting he came across as “a father who fulfills children’s wishes” and thanking him for answering their request. On the same day, G-Dragon performed as the only K-pop artist at the APEC summit welcoming banquet held at the Grand Hall of the Lahan Select Hotel in Gyeongju, Korea, delivering about 10 minutes of songs including Drama, Power, and Home Sweet Home from his third studio album.
