Exclusive: NewJeans Lost, but Min Hee-jin Wins Against Trolls, Awarded 700,000 Won in Damages

Min Hee-jin, former ADOR chief, has repeatedly secured wins against online trolls following NewJeans’ contract dispute loss.

In the aftermath of NewJeans losing their exclusive contract dispute with ADOR, former ADOR chief Min Hee-jin has been winning judgments against online trolls who insulted her. On the 2nd, the Seoul Western District Court, Civil Division 12, judge Lee Kwan-hyeong ruled in Min’s favor in a case against six trolls, ordering five of them to pay 100,000 won each and one to pay 200,000 won.

The 사건 originated around April last year amid a publicized management dispute between Min and HYBE. The trolls left comments that attacked and defamed Min, with Min’s side contending there was a duty to compensate for mental distress. The court accepted Min’s argument, ordering the trolls to pay 10,000 to 20,000 won per person in damages. This judgment has now become final, and Min has secured verdicts against dozens of trolls, with an overall win rate of about 70%.

Separately, on the 30th, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Affairs Division 41 ruled that the exclusive contract between NewJeans and ADOR remains valid. The court did not uphold NewJeans’ claim that Min Hee-jin’s dismissal violated the contract or that there was a breakdown of trust justifying termination, marking another notable outcome in the ongoing disputes.
