Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin win together; Park Chan-wook leads the night

The 46th Blue Dragon Film Awards were held on the 19th at KBS Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. The ceremony, established to celebrate the quality and growth of Korean cinema, drew significant attention from filmmakers and fans alike.

Perhaps the night’s biggest talking point was the joint win by Hyun Bin and Son Ye-jin. Hyun Bin took Best Actor for Harbin, while Son Ye-jin earned Best Actress for There Is No Way, sharing the moment together in the same seating area. In his acceptance remarks, Hyun Bin said he felt more than the film itself and expressed gratitude to those who protected the country, also thanking director Woo Min-ho. He added that he was grateful for the weight he felt when offered the project and for Woo Min-ho’s support, and he told his wife Ye-jin and their son that he loves them.

Son Ye-jin, reflecting on her career, recalled winning at the Blue Dragon Awards in her 20s and noted how motherhood has changed her perspective. She said she aims to remain a good person and a good actress, and proudly shared that she would celebrate this joy with the two men she loves most, Kim Taepyeong and their baby Kim Woo-jin.

This year’s ceremony also highlighted Park Chan-wook’s There Is No Way, which dominated several major categories including Best Film and Best Director, among others. By contrast, the low-budget film Face did not win any awards, while Zombie Girl took the Audience Award, and the critically acclaimed Paha did not secure a prize.

Among the newcomers, An Bo-hyun and Kim Do-yeon received the Best New Actor and Best New Actress awards respectively, while Kim Hye-young was named Best New Director for Okay Okay Okay.
