“Like BTS…” HYBE’s Latin boy group Santos Bravos [Q&A]

HYBE Latin America’s newest idol-type act blends Latin energy with K-pop training as they debut with global ambitions.

Five-member boy group Santos Bravos—Dru, Alejandro, Cauê, Gabi, and Kenneth—was formed from a reality show that aired from August to October. They kicked off their career with a debut in a 10,000-seat arena, and tickets were sold out. The group is described as an idol-type act, with strong vocals, performances, and visuals, and they fuse Latin energy and emotion with HYBE’s global DNA to aim for a new global rookie status.

The Santos Bravos project is part of HYBE Latin America’s broader localization effort. If Cats Eyes in the United States and Ant Team in Japan exist, Santos Bravos represents Mexico’s entry into HYBE’s global expansion through the so‑called “K-pop methodology.” Born from a reality series, the group sought a path beyond typical Latin acts, embracing a meticulous, performance-driven training ethos and a strong emphasis on teamwork.

Following is the Q&A with Santos Bravos. Q: At the debut moment, what was the first emotion you felt? Alejandro: I was so grateful. I thought of my family and everyone who believed in me even before this dream came true. Gabi: It felt like electricity ran through me; I couldn’t hide my excitement. I just wanted to go on stage as soon as possible. Cauê: I was nervous, but it felt good. I felt a responsibility representing something bigger and more important than myself. Dru: Honestly, the sense of relief was the greatest. We had all worked so hard for this one dream, and now everything felt complete.

Q: The “Santos Bravos” journey was more than a competition; what changed the most for you along the way? Dru: The sense of relief was enormous; all of us had worked relentlessly, and finally everything came together. Kenneth: I’m proud not only of myself but of the group as we prepare to write a new history for Latin music.

Q: Before joining Santos Bravos, how much did you know about K-pop? Santos Bravos: Debuting under HYBE Latin America felt like an unbelievable dream. We had always admired the high standard of K-pop performances, and being part of that as a Latin group was unimaginable.

Q: You’ve undergone precise K-pop training; how does it differ from what you did before, and what advantages do you see? Santos Bravos: It’s the attention to tiny details. Every gesture and gaze carries meaning. It’s training to reach perfection, not merely to be satisfactory, and it emphasizes teamwork as well.

Q: Why did you choose HYBE Latin America’s audition, and what did you hope to gain? Santos Bravos: We didn’t want to miss the chance to be part of something historic. We wanted to test ourselves at the highest standard and believed in HYBE Latin America’s vision to bring Latin roots to the global market.

Q: Santos Bravos was created under the grammar of K-pop but born in the Latin music market; what makes you different and what are your strengths? Santos Bravos: We perform with the precision of K-pop dance and vocal delivery while telling stories rooted in Latin traditions. Our diversity is a key strength; we speak several languages and come from different cultural backgrounds to connect distinct worlds.

Q: Looking ahead, what color or genre of music do you want to share? Santos Bravos: We aim for a fresh fusion of Latin rhythm with global pop, from high‑energy tracks that make you dance to ballads that move listeners. We want to create music that surprises people and defies easy categorization.

Q: Do you have role models? Santos Bravos: We respect artists like J Balvin, BTS, and Rosalía. J Balvin successfully brought Latin music to the global stage, BTS demonstrates that hard work and practice can transcend music, and Rosalía reshapes genres and breaks molds.

Q: What are your goals? Santos Bravos: We want to be trailblazers who inspire the next generation, bridging Latin America and the world, and we hope crowds in massive stadiums sing along in Spanish. We want to be a cultural conduit that connects continents through music.

Q: Finally, what would you say to the fans who have followed your audition process from the start? Santos Bravos: Your comments and support made our debut possible. This is just the beginning, and there is so much more to show — please keep with us on this journey.
