Dahyun of Twice stars in JTBC’s new Friday night drama Love Me, directed by Jo Young-min with a screenplay by Park Eun-yeong and Park Hee-kwon. The series follows a family that has long valued certain loves as they embark on their own romances and grow together. In the story, Seo Jun-seo, a graduate student who romantically envisions life, and Ji Hyeon, a publisher’s editor who dreams of becoming a novelist, are childhood friends whose bond intertwines with evolving feelings, shaping a coming-of-age narrative for a generation.
Seo Jun-seo is presented as a quintessential underling who craves affirmation of love. Due to a roughly ten-year age gap, he lacks emotional resonance with his older sister Seo Jun-kyung, and a sudden family crisis weighs on them emotionally. While pursuing graduate studies, his future feels uncertain, and Ji Hyeon has long acted like family to him, having looked after him since they were kids.
Behind-the-scenes stills reveal the ease and comfort of longtime friends—banter and conversations that feel natural, with closeness that never rings true as awkward. Yet amid familiarity, the question remains whether these feelings are truly just friendship.
The production team notes that Seo Jun-seo’s inner conflict—his insecurities and romanticism—along with Ji Hyeon’s warmth and tremor of emotion, are conveyed with delicate nuance by the two leads. Their fresh yet dense chemistry is expected to add a new dimension to the youth drama as they navigate subtle changes in their relationship. Viewers are invited to watch which path Seo Jun-seo and Ji Hyeon will ultimately choose.
Love Me is based on the Swedish original series of the same name by Josefin Borene busch. An Australian version titled Love Me has also aired on Binge/FOXTEL. The drama premieres on December 19 at 8:50 PM with back-to-back episodes.
