Film forum to share Korea’s values and culture through cinema in Tysons, Virginia

The US-Korea Alliance Foundation, led by Chairman Choi Tae-eun and Chap Petersen, will host the MTL Forum on December 4 at LOOK Dine-in Cinemas in Tysons, Virginia, where Korean cinema will be screened and Korea’s values and sentiments will be shared.

Under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States, the Overseas Koreans Agency, and the Korea Film Council, the Washington Korean Cultural Center and the Foundation will co-host the event, which will feature the screening of Im Soo-rye’s film Little Forest, starring Kim Tae-ri.

Choi Tae-eun said the forum was organized to discuss Korea’s economic and cultural values in the United States through cinema, and he expressed hope for broad support and encouragement from many people.

Chap Petersen emphasized that Korea-U.S. relations began as a military alliance and have since grown more multifaceted and expansive, noting that holding the MTL Forum under new leadership is meaningful for both nations.

Jan Shin, Vice Chair, stated that the forum is being prepared with the Korea Film Council’s direct delivery of film stock and support from the Overseas Koreans Agency and the U.S. Embassy, and that the Washington Korean Cultural Center is co-hosting it, anticipating a substantial impact on mainstream society. Vincent Boon, Vice Chair, added that culture can serve as a bridge to open hearts and that the Foundation will lead efforts to strengthen Korea-U.S. ties through culture.

The MTL Forum will provide meals and beverages, and admission is by invitation.
