An unnamed Japanese woman in her 50s who kissed BTS member Jin on the cheek without consent has been handed over for trial on charges of coercive molestation. The Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office said on the 17th that the woman, identified as A, was indicted without detention on the charge.

A씨 attended a hugging event with about 1,000 fans at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul after Jin completed his military service in June last year, and kissed Jin on the cheek without his consent. Jin’s visibly embarrassed reaction at the time drew attention and sparked discussions of sexual harassment.

She even wrote on her blog that “the lips touched his neck” and that “the skin was very soft.” Police launched an investigation after a civil complaint was filed through the 국민신문고 portal and sought international cooperation from Interpol in Japan; after seven months, they identified A. She was summoned to appear but did not respond, and the investigation was suspended in March.

Subsequently, she returned to Korea voluntarily for questioning, and the charges were acknowledged, with her being forwarded to the prosecutors in May.
