Stresses that Bang Si-hyuk’s court case and NewJeans matters are separate

Composer Yoon Il-sang has publicly stated that the two issues surrounding Bang Si-hyuk and NewJeans should not be conflated. He signaled his stance in a video posted on his YouTube channel, stating that the discussions around Bang Si-hyuk’s trial should not be mixed with NewJeans’ matters.

In the video titled “Why didn’t I speak up? Thoughts on Bang Si-hyuk and NewJeans,” he said, “Why are you bringing Bang Si-hyuk’s trial into the discussion about NewJeans? You can’t mix the two issues.” He emphasized that NewJeans’ activities are the essence of the matter, adding that if Bang Si-hyuk did something wrong, he would be punished, but that is a separate issue from NewJeans.

He also expressed his desire for NewJeans to continue thriving, noting that there is a unique freshness, voice, and choreography that shouldn’t be lost to time. He underscored that the two topics are distinct and criticized the conflation of the issues by fans, stressing the separation between artists’ activities and executives’ legal matters.
