Japanese Woman in Her 50s Indicted Without Detention for Allegedly Assaulting BTS’ Jin

Alleged forcible kissing at a fan event led to charges

A Japanese woman in her 50s has been charged with forcible molestation for allegedly kissing BTS member Jin on the neck and committing other acts of molestation. On the 12th, Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors’ Office indicted the woman, identified as A, without detention on the charges.

The incident reportedly occurred after Jin completed his military service in June last year, at the fan meeting held at the Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Songpa District, Seoul, where the woman allegedly kissed Jin on the cheek in a surprise move.

During the subsequent investigation, some fans filed complaints via the National Civic Complaints system requesting an inquiry into the alleged molestation at a public venue. The Songpa Police Station began investigating, summoned the woman for questioning, but decided in March that the inquiry would be lengthy and suspended it.

Later, the woman voluntarily appeared for questioning, and the Songpa authorities concluded that the charges were supported and forwarded the case to the prosecution.
