HoWon University partners with a senior Democratic Party leader to examine visions and policy pathways for K-Arena venues.

In the global era of K-Pop, the industry’s explosive growth contrasts with Korea’s structural shortcomings in live-performance infrastructure. A National Assembly seminar organized by HoWon University will explore policy solutions to these gaps, focusing on the future vision and challenges of K-Arena venues. The event is set for the 19th (Wednesday) at 4:30 PM in the National Assembly Members’ Hall, Room 2, with Democratic Party Deputy Leader Lee Eon-ju.

The seminar will feature a keynote that analyzes the gap between K-Pop’s international prominence and domestic arena infrastructure, drawing on successful overseas arena models. Policy recommendations will include financial sustainability, private investment incentives, transportation-linked prime-site strategies, simplification of administrative procedures through special legislation, and a transparent framework to minimize regional tensions.

The social panel will be moderated by former Yonhap News broadcaster Choi Chang-eun, with Cha Ji-Young of the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute serving as chairperson. Panelists include senior officials from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, researchers from the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute, and executives from the media and platform sectors, who are expected to discuss industry and policy perspectives.

Additionally, students from the Performing Arts Media Department will participate on the floor to hear expert opinions firsthand, offering an educational opportunity to explore the industry’s structure and potential career paths. HoWon University hopes the seminar will also contribute to regional youth entrepreneurship and residential stability initiatives.

HoWon University officials noted that the growth of the K-Pop industry is economically significant and that addressing the infrastructure issue is a national priority. The university said it will continue to play an active role through its Culture Art Tech Start-up Support Center in fostering future talent and establishing a broader ecosystem for the performing arts.

Overall, the seminar is expected to deeply discuss policy directions for K-Arena venues and sustainable growth strategies for Korea’s cultural industry, underscoring HoWon University’s practical role in the performing arts, startup, and digital culture sectors.
