Korean dramas poised to be Disney+’s APAC flagship lineup for next year.

Disney+’s APAC-focused approach was highlighted at the Disney+ Preview 2025 held at Hong Kong Disneyland Resort on the 13th (local time), a moment that underscored Korea’s prowess in entertainment technology. The majority of speakers on stage were Korean creators, and their on-screen presence drew cheers that resembled a global fan event.

Disney+ is marking five years of APAC content production, with investments led by Korea and Japan. Since 2021, Disney has produced more than 155 APAC original series, and it aims to expand both the quantity and the quality of APAC content. In Japan, animation remains the focus, with projects including an animated adaptation of Death Stranding: Isolation, a second installment of Cats Eye, Tokyo Revengers: War of the Three Wars, and The Medalist Season 2. For Korea, the lineup features several high-profile dramas; aside from the announced 2026 Korea–Japan collaboration Mary Berry Love (working title), the rest are Korean originals, with Disney+’s 2026 APAC roster already mirroring its total next year’s drama output.

Eric Schrier, president of Disney Television Studios and Global Original, said Disney will back creators, cultivate an environment where creators can take risks, and not seek to micromanage their work. He added that the company will rely on data as a guide, but will bet on people, dreams, and artistry.
