A YouTuber in her 30s who posted videos defaming Jang Won-young of the girl group IVE and other celebrities on YouTube earned hundreds of millions of won in profits and has appealed the appellate court’s ruling to the Supreme Court. The appellate division of the Incheon District Court sentenced A to two years in prison, with a three-year suspended sentence, and ordered a forfeiture of 210 million won.

A’s side said the punishment and the forfeiture were excessive and appealed. A was accused of posting 23 videos defaming seven celebrities and influencers on her channel ‘탈덕수용소’ from October 2021 to June 2023. They earned about 250 million won.

The content of the videos includes false claims that Jang Won-young blocked a fellow trainee’s debut out of jealousy, and false stories about other celebrities’ involvement in prostitution and plastic surgery.
