Eric Schrier, president of Disney Television Studios and Global Original Television Strategy, spoke at Disney+ Originals Preview 2025’s APAC leadership talk held at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Conference Center, outlining momentum in the APAC region. He highlighted Korea and Japan as APAC hubs, noting that Korean dramas and audiences have outstanding creativity and the ability to resonate with global audiences.
Schrier also emphasized that Korean romance dramas are popular overseas, adding that Korea is loved far away, including in Latin America. He described Disney+’s approach to diversification, saying the service is focusing on fandom and that the company is aiming to build fandom among users, while exploring a broad range of formats to accommodate diverse tastes.
Carol Choi, head of APAC Integrated Marketing and Original Content Strategy, also commented that APAC hosts the most sophisticated users and that micro-short-form videos began there. She added that Disney aims to apply new trends to its lineup and continues to experiment with new formats, looking ahead with anticipation.
