Bringing K-Pop to the Grammys, Rosé and Bruno Mars lead nominations in multiple categories

Rosé has entered the Grammy stage, propelled by her collaboration with Bruno Mars on the hit “APT.,” which earned nominations for Song of the Year and Record of the Year, making her the first K-Pop artist to achieve this in the General Fields. The soundtrack for Netflix’s anime K-Pop Demon Hunters is also competing in five categories, including Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. Rosé’s nominations mark a historic milestone for K-Pop at the Grammys.

The song “APT.” rose to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and topped the Billboard Global charts, signaling a significant achievement for K-Pop. Earlier this year, Rosé became a trailblazer for the genre when the MTV Video Music Awards recognized her as a first for a K-Pop artist in the “Song of the Year”-type category. Rosé and Bruno Mars are also nominated in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category, facing off against the global K-Pop girl group KATSEYE, whose hit “Gabriella” is among the nominees. Other nominees include “Defying Gravity” performed by Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, the “Gold” performed by Hunts, a group from Netflix’s K-Pop Demon Hunters, and “30 for 30” by C.S. and Kendrick Lamar. The OST for K-Pop Demon Hunters was additionally nominated for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. The track “Golden” is up for Song, Best Song Written for Visual Media, and Best Remixed Recording. Singer-songwriter Lee Jae (L.J.) said on social media that the nomination for Song of the Year at the Grammys surpasses anything she had imagined, calling it the thing she had dreamed of achieving.

The 68th Grammy Awards will take place on February 1 next year at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, with final voting running from December 12 to January 5.
