A quick guide to four iconic Seoul nightscapes that served as dramatic backdrops in a popular drama

Naksan Park, which appears as a backdrop in the K-pop drama Demon Hunters, is a city night-view spot along Seoul’s Fortress Wall Trail. Though it sits on a gentle hill about 124 meters above sea level, the view from the summit sweeps across downtown Seoul. By day it’s a popular walking route for residents; by night it’s one of Seoul’s most iconic night-view points. As dusk settles, the fortress lights illuminate the skyline, blending with the city lights to create a romantic atmosphere. Autumn evenings bring a cool breeze and a particularly beautiful view of Seoul’s nightscape.

Dalmaji Neighborhood Park, a backdrop for Youth Records, sits on a hill in Geumho-dong, Seongdong-gu, and is within about a 10-minute walk from OkSu Station. In the early evening, the lights of the Han River and the N Seoul Tower and Lotte World Tower mingle to offer a dramatic panorama. Though small, it provides a vantage of both the Han River and the city.

Eungbongsan, a low hill between Seongdong-gu’s Eungbon-dong and Geumho-dong at about 81 meters, is the setting where Jo In-sung and Gong Hyo-jin in a drama confirmed their feelings. From Eungbon Station, it’s about a 15-minute walk to the summit, where the octagonal pavilion is a popular viewpoint. In spring the hill is coated in forsythia, earning the nickname “Forsythia Mountain”; at sunset the lights along the Han River and the riverbank create a dynamic Seoul nightscape.

Deoksungung (Deoksugung Palace) is a classic night-view spot where the palace’s quiet splendor coexists with city lights; it’s a signature Seoul destination often used as a backdrop in numerous dramas, including City Lovers and Goblin. In autumn the ginkgo trees turn golden along the Jeongdong-gil walkway, casting a golden glow over the palace walls at sunset. The area feels especially atmospheric as dusk settles and lights come on. The palace is easily accessible from City Hall Station with evening hours on most days, and the sunset often paints the palace walls in a rich, warm hue before nightfall.
