K-pop makes Grammys history as Rosé’s “Apartment” and the Netflix OST “Golden” lead nominations in the main categories; Cats Eye also earns a Best New Artist nod and more.

K-pop reached a historic milestone as Rosé of Blackpink and the Netflix film Demons Hunters’ OST, “Golden,” earned nominations in the Grammy Awards’ main categories. The 68th Grammys, announced by the Recording Academy, will take place on February 1 next year at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Rosé’s and Bruno Mars’ collaboration “Apartment” is nominated in the General Fields for Song of the Year and Record of the Year, and it is also up for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, giving it a total of three nominations. The Netflix OST “Golden” from Demons Hunters is also nominated for Song of the Year, putting it in competition with “Apartment.” In addition, “Golden” is shortlisted for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, bringing the overall count to five nominations across the two works.

Cats Eye, Hybe’s global girl group, is named a contender in the Best New Artist category in the Grammys’ main categories and is also listed for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. As a result, three K-pop acts appear in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance finalists.

This marks the first time since BTS that K-pop has nominations in Grammys main categories, and it is also the first time a female K-pop artist has been nominated in a main category. The Grammys, presented by the Recording Academy since 1959, celebrate music professionals across singing, producing, and engineering, among others. The 68th Grammys will be held on February 1 next year in Los Angeles.
