K-pop marks a historic main-category nomination at the Grammys, with multiple nominations across categories.
Rosé of Blackpink and Netflix’s anime series KPOP Demon Hunters have earned nominations in the Grammys’ General Fields, marking the first main-category nod for a K-pop act. Rosé is nominated in three categories, including Song of the Year and Record of the Year, for her hit “Apartment” (APT.).
Additionally, the KPOP Demon Hunters original soundtrack, “Golden,” is among the five nominees for Song of the Year. This also marks the first time a female artist has been nominated in the Grammys’ main categories, and the first main-category nomination for K-pop since BTS.
Rosé’s entry for “Apartment” places her among the contenders for Song of the Year and Record of the Year, while BTS had previously been named in the Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category.
Cats, Hybe’s U.S.-Korean joint girl group, is up for Best New Artist and Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
The Recording Academy will conduct final voting from December 12 to January 5 next year.
The 68th Grammys will be held on February 1 next year in Los Angeles.
