The 45th Yeongpyeong Awards: Best Film Award Goes to "3학년 2학기" and Director Jeong Byung-gi

Korean Film Critics Association selects the Yeongpyeong Awards winners and the Yeongpyeong Top Ten

The Korean Film Critics Association has announced the winners of the 45th Yeongpyeong Awards and the Yeongpyeong Top Ten selections. The Best Film Award went to “3학년 2학기,” while director Jeong Byung-gi won the Director Award for “여름이 지나가면” (When Summer Passes).

The association said on the 6th that after a final review meeting held at 6 p.m. on the 3rd, it finalized the Yeongpyeong Award recipients and the Yeongpyeong Top Ten. The final selections were based on works released between October 1, 2024 and September 30, 2025, with preliminary screenings held last October in which association members participated.

Each year, members have selected about ten standout works for the Yeongpyeong Top Ten after considering not only category awards but also the aesthetic merit of the works. The winners (works) decided after the final review are listed below.

In the domestic category of the International Federation of Film Critics Korea (FIPRESCI KOREA), the prize went to “어쩔수가없다” (director Park Chan-wook), while the foreign-film section went to “K-Pop Demon Hunters” (directors Megi Kang and Chris Apfelhans). Independent-film awards, decided through collaboration among CJ CGV, Baekdu Daegan (Art House Momo), Et Nine (Art Nine), Indispace, and Oh-oh Theater, named “아침바다 갈매기는” (director Park I-woong) for the feature film and “되살아나는 목소리” (directors Park Soo-nam and Park Ma) for the documentary.

This year’s Yeongpyeong Top Ten includes: “봄밤,” “섬.망(望),” “아침바다 갈매기는,” “어쩔수가없다,” “얼굴,” “여름이 지나가면,” “승부,” “홍이,” “3학년 2학기,” and “3670.” However, the 45th Yeongpyeong Awards ceremony will not be held this year.
