A candid chat reveals San’s on-stage transformation, idol dreams, and playful dynamics with his groupmates.
The charm of Ateez’s San shone through in a video posted on Hong Seok-cheon’s YouTube channel, “Hong Seok-cheon’s Jewelry Box,” titled “the mountain at an altitude of 1,947.269m.” In the clip, Hong describes San as originally introverted, but notes a 180-degree turn when he is on stage.
Hong and Kim then ask San about his ideal type. San replies that the person who makes him laugh is someone who can make him smile, and the two suddenly try to crack him up, prompting laughter in front of him.
Kim asks, “Honestly, did you feel more comfortable with ‘Narae-style’ or here?” San laughs and says that since debut, he has gradually gained experience, and that’s how things have turned out.
Hong then asks, “How did you come to dream of being an idol?” San responds that becoming an idol wasn’t originally his dream, but after an older friend encouraged him to audition, he joined the group and realized he really enjoys this work.
He also shares that as an introvert, the members tease him sometimes, but it’s more cute than mean because they enjoy teasing him. He adds that, seven years after his debut, they still bring up old anecdotes like “you did that,” teasing him in that way.
San concludes by noting that on days off he goes alone to the Han River and Seokcheon Lake.
