ILLIT to perform the opening for Season 2, set to air in January next year in Japan

Korean girl group ILIT (ILLIT) has been tapped to perform the opening theme for Japan’s popular TV anime, Princess Time of Torture. The group’s label, Hive Music Group’s Bilif Lab, announced that ILIT will sing the opening for Season 2, which is scheduled to air on Japanese terrestrial channels and OTT platforms in January next year.

The song has already drawn substantial traction, surpassing 50 million cumulative streams within about five months of its release and earning a Gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of Japan. This pace marks one of the fastest overseas artist songs to achieve the milestone this year.

ILIT expressed that it is an honor to sing the opening for a beloved anime in Japan and asked fans to look forward to the collaboration.

Previously, ILIT found success in Japan with Almond Chocolate, the theme song for the film Not by Appearance, which topped Japanese charts and earned Gold certification. In September, their Japanese debut title track Toki Yo Tomare was selected as the main OST for a local OTT program, and the track Topping was used in a Lacoste Japan advertisement. The group is also set to release their first single Not Cute Anymore on November 24, 2025, and to hold the IllIT Glitter Day in Seoul Encore at the Olympic Hall on November 8–9, 2025.
