Domestic reception remains lukewarm, while overseas responses show stronger chart performance
Le Sserafim’s new single SPAGHETTI, featuring BTS member J-Hope, has not drawn strong praise domestically despite the high-profile collaboration. Critics and fans in Korea note that the song is good, but its mainstream appeal feels limited.
Three days after its release, the music video had not yet surpassed 20 million views on YouTube, and domestic streaming also underwhelmed. On Melon’s main chart, SPAGHETTI sits around No. 21 as of the morning of the 27th.
Outside Korea, responses have been more favorable. Since its release, the track has topped the World Wide Songs Chart and the European Songs Chart on iTunes for two consecutive days. YouTube Music rankings place it at No. 5 on the Korea Daily Top 20, No. 4 on the Japan Daily Top 20, and No. 16 on the U.S. Daily Top 20, with Spotify’s Daily Top Songs Global placing it at No. 41 in the period.
Social media and online comments reflect mixed reactions: some listeners argue the song is too complex to become a mainstream hit, while others praise it for broadening listeners’ horizons. Regardless of chart performance, the music video has been praised for presenting a diverse, global aesthetic.
