BOYNEXTDOOR, On Fire: A Look at The Action’s Chart Rise

The mini-album The Action and its chart trajectory

The momentum around BOYNEXTDOOR is blazing. Generally, boy groups excel in album sales, while girl groups dominate the charts for digital streams. Even top-tier boy bands that routinely sell around a million copies don’t easily translate that to success on the charts, but BOYNEXTDOOR is different. BOYNEXTDOOR (Seongho, Rui, Myungjaehyun, Taesan, Ihan, Unhak) are doing things differently. They are aiming for three consecutive million-selling albums and are hoping for a second Top 10 track on the digital charts. BOYNEXTDOOR released their mini-album The Action on October 20. By October 23, the album had sold around 850,000 copies. It trails the previous mini No Genre (about 920,000 copies) but, following mini 3 and mini 4, is closing in on a million in sales. Most notably, its digital performance is moving toward their own best. The title track Hollywood Action entered the Melon daily chart at No. 36 on its release day. It marked the highest entry among the band’s tracks on that chart. All tracks on the album, including the title track, appeared on the daily charts. Hollywood Action climbed to No. 20 on the daily chart by the 21st and has remained in the Top 10 since the 22nd. The rise has been rapid. BOYNEXTDOOR will continue their ascent on music shows, performing on M Countdown on the 23rd, Music Bank on the 24th, Show! Music Core on the 25th, and Inkigayo on the 26th. The album, with heavy involvement from its members in production, has strengthened fan cohesion. The Action is an album about challenge, growth, and bold ambition, aiming for a better self.
