Jeonghan and Wonwoo Accept the Presidential Citation on Behalf of SEVENTEEN During the Event
HYBE Label’s Pleadies Entertainment announced on the 24th that SEVENTEEN (S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, The8, Mingyu, DK, Seungkwan, Vernon, Dino) has been honored with the Presidential Citation. SEVENTEEN received the Presidential Citation at the 2025 Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards held at the National Theater in central Seoul on the 23rd, with Jeonghan and Wonwoo, who are currently on a world tour in North America, taking the stage to accept the trophy. The two members, who are fulfilling their mandatory military service, attended after consultations with the Military Manpower Administration and other related agencies. Jeonghan and Wonwoo stated, “We are grateful and honored to receive the Presidential Citation on our 10th debut anniversary. We thank everyone who has worked hard for the K-pop industry and culture. We will continue to spread K-pop and contribute to the development of popular culture. We also thank CARAT for always cheering us on.” The Korean Popular Culture and Arts Awards is the highest government award given to those who have contributed to the global spread of K-content and the development of the industry. SEVENTEEN previously received the Prime Minister’s Citation in 2020 and, five years later, were selected as Presidential Citation recipients. Since their 2015 debut, SEVENTEEN has left a significant mark on Korean pop history by setting records such as the highest-selling K-pop album (their 10th mini-album “FML”) and the highest first-week sales (11th mini-album “SEVENTEENTH HEAVEN”), among others. They have also expanded the global footprint of Korean pop on stage, including headlining the main stage at the UK’s Glastonbury Festival and at Lollapalooza Berlin in Germany and Tecate Pal Norte in Mexico. They have led social contribution efforts as well, including UNESCO appointing them as the first Youth Goodwill Ambassadors and donating $1 million to establish the Global Youth Grant Scheme. Last August, they donated the proceeds from the charity auction “JOOPITER presents: sacai x SEVENTEEN” to UNESCO. This year, marking their 10th anniversary, they have engaged in a broader range of activities to strengthen K-pop’s influence. Members were previously named to Goldhouse’s “A100” list (Asia’s 100 Most Influential People) and two members (Woozi and Vernon) were elected to the Recording Academy. Their May release of the full-length album “HAPPY BURSTDAY” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200, earning worldwide recognition. The SEVENTEEN World Tour [NEW_] IN U.S. continues to be successful, with recent shows in Tacoma (11th, local time), Los Angeles (16th–17th), and Austin (21st–22nd) receiving strong fan reception; more dates follow in Sunrise (26th–27th) and Washington, D.C. (29th–30th).
