Korean stars’ pan-Asian appeal highlighted as Florence earns Hollywood recognition

Kim Min-jong and Ye Ji-won, stars with broad popularity across Asia, have been selected as the film category’s Asian Popularity winners at the 20th Asia Model Awards, to be held on October 30 at High1 Resort in Jeongseon, Gangwon Province. Recently, they showcased their on-screen chemistry in the film Florence (Florence Knockin’ on You), drawing attention on the global stage. The film went on to win three major awards—Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Screenplay—at the 2025 Global Stage Hollywood Film Festival in Los Angeles, underscoring Korean cinema’s strength. Kim Min-jong said, “It’s moving to see that a film released after such a long time has been recognized in Hollywood,” and added that he hopes Florence will be more widely known worldwide. Ye Ji-won also expressed gratitude, noting that Korean sensibilities and storytelling can resonate with global audiences, and she hopes to continue sharing this joy with fellow Korean filmmakers.
