A star-studded lineup fuels a warm, genre-spanning project that blends pop, country, ballads, and more
Lee Chan-won kicks off a new musical journey with a radiant, autumn-tinged soundscape as he releases his second full-length album, Brilliant, on the 20th at 6:00 PM local time across major streaming platforms. The project marks two years since his first full-length, ONE, and aims to showcase the luminous world he’s crafted as an artist.
Brilliant comprises 12 tracks, including the title song “오늘은 왠지” (Today, Somehow). The album ventures beyond his comfort zone, from a pop-infused country style to ballads steeped in autumnal sentiment, all delivered with Lee Chan-won’s warm vocal presence to offer comfort, confession, memory, and hope.
The title track, “Today, Somehow,” is a traditional country song penned by Jo Young-soo with lyrics by Roy Kim. It marks Lee Chan-won’s first foray into a pop-leaning country sound, an easy-listening melody designed for wide audience appeal. The collaboration between Roy Kim’s gentle lyricism and Lee Chan-won’s bright energy is poised to spark widespread sing-alongs.
Beyond the opener, the album traverses genres through tracks like “You and I Fallen Like Leaves,” “First Love,” and “Rock ’n’ Roll Life,” weaving country, Eurodance, and rock ’n’ roll to resonate with listeners across generations. Ballads such as “I Told You,” “Mom’s Spring Day,” and “Don’t Leave Me” reveal a more delicate, mature vocal approach, expanding the singer’s musical spectrum.
Additionally, songs like the British soft-rock-flavored “My Long Journey” and the co-written “Shining Star” contribute personal storytelling, underscoring Lee Chan-won’s growing range as an all-around artist.
Brilliant’s lineup of contributors is standout. Jo Young-soo serves as overall producer, elevating the album’s quality, with a diverse roster including Roy Kim, Kim A-na (Kim Eana), Rocoberry, Lee Yoo-jin, Han Gil, FiveTalents, and Lee Kyu-hyung lending their talents to the project.
In prior years, Lee Chan-won made a strong impact with his 2023 full-length ONE and the 2024 mini-album Bright; these releases topped charts and earned him multiple music-show wins. The new album Brilliant is anticipated to continue his upward trajectory and showcase a fresh, multifaceted side of the artist.
With a fall-ready sense of warmth and comforting vibes, Brilliant invites listeners into Lee Chan-won’s evolving musical journey as it becomes available on all major streaming platforms this evening at 6 PM.
